Blogger Vandals
During the week end some vandals visited the cart. They spray painted and cut it with the knive. We are going to fix it. New sleepingbag is gone Somebody has stole the sleeping bag which was inside of the cart. We hope that was stolen by person who really needed that. Warm nights. Mystery guest!
Väiski was washing his feet when I met him. He said that he hasn't slept in the cart, but somebody else has. He said that the visitor was a handicapped person, but he didn't tell anything else about the guest. There were some evidence left in the cart, his sleeping bag was opened and some bread were on the bottom of the cart. Guest had also made a door mat out of tree branches. Who is this mystery guest? At Saturday evening some teenagers with beer cases were taking a leak in front of Väiski. It is a sheltered place in a busy train station area. Smell at the Väiski´s corner wasn't very pleasant. Väiski still sleeps on the ground
Väiski said that he has slept between the cart and the wall. He said that weather is getting warmer and he doesn´t even need the sleepingbag which we delivered to him.
Somedody burnt Väiskis place

After that he has been sleeping in old railway depot, but somedody burnt them down last autumn and after that he is been sleeping in a corner at the main post office of Helsinki . In 1995 Väiski lost his ID and the doorman of the dormitory didn´t let him inside, after that he hasn´t tried to get inside.
Väiski takes the cart
70 year old Väiski has been sleeping on a corner of Helsinki main post office plasticbag as his pillow. We convinced him to take the cart. He was very suspicious about the cart. Especially what the authorities will say about the cart and mischief.
Cart gets a new resident Anyday soon the cart gets a new resident.
Niko´s got a residence? There has not been anybody in the cart for some time. There were a rumor at No Fixed Abodes office that Niko has got a place to sleep. Go for it Niko!
Happy birthday No Fixed Abode
No Fixed Abode turned 20 years. The celebration took place in Helsinki harbour. Niko enjoyed good food and music.
Independence day
Niko spend his independence day in Market Square of Hakaniemi, there were the independence day of poor people.

Still alive
Cart has been operating better than before. Moisture can get out from new openings. Niko said that he has been in jail for a couple of days in the past week. He said that the cart is better than jail.
Niko went out to test the improved cart
After the carts presentation event in Esplanadi, Niko and the improved cart took off. The carts ventilation and some seams were improved.

Cold weather affected the visitors. Tourist from Bratislava , Slovakia visited, and told us about two homeless people who freezed to death in Bratislava just two weeks ago. Niko`s thoughts about the cart got a lot of interest in visitors. They wondered how anybody could survive living outside, in a cold place like Finland . People often suggested somekind of heater in the cart.
Niko had fever and went to Rälläkkä
Niko got fever and went to Salvation army`s dorm Rälläkkä to rest and heal. We hope that he gets well soon. Niko was not sure if he still continues to test the cart after he gets well.
Some maintenance for the cart
One seam of the cart was leaking and Niko fixed that with Scotch tape. We will fix the seam and make some ventilation holes to the cart.
Niko and cart survives from gale!
During the weekend there were gales in Helsinki. Gale was so bad that catamarans between Estonia and Finland had to stay at pier. Cart and Niko are okay at Helsinki Market Square next to the sea. Temperature is above zero but probably not for long.
Cart back on the streets of Helsinki
We have now checked out the rumours about the cart being in sale, and the cart was given back to Niko. If Niko stays there were he usually stays, the cart is in Helsinki market square or near it. There is also a possibility that you can spot the cart at Suomenlinna fortress just in front of Helsinki .
Cart for sale?
There was rumour going on that the cart is for sale. Employees of No Fixed Abode organisation collected the cart away, and we are going to check out the rumours. The cart is back in the streets start of the week. CART IS PROPERTY OF NO FIXED ABODE ORGANISATION.
There is place for two in the Cart
Niko told us that the cart is a good place to sleep in and that his friend Reksa slept there couple of hours too with him. He has been sleeping with out disturbance, except some noice coming out of the people who are leaving from ferry-boat of Suomenlinna. Niko showed us his former sleeping place: green box next to the ferry-boat terminal.
Carry On campaign started
First test user of the cart Niko thought that he is going to take the cart somewhere next to the Helsinki market square. Now begins the six month user testing period of the cart.
First night in the cart
During the night of the homeless we selected Niko Suomelainen as the first test person of the cart. He has been homeless for seven years. He spend his first night in front of Museum of Modern Art Kiasma and slept for seven and half hours. He said that the sleeping bag was warm to sleep in and that he liked the cart a lot. One positive side of the cart was that nobody can not throw him out like usually happens when you are sleeping in someones staircase.
The night of the homeless interested people
Tent Cart had its world premiere in the night of the homeless in front of museum of modern art Kiasma in Helsinki . People were really interested of the cart. Biggest concerns were: Is it warm and Is it going to burn if you are smoking inside. We got many good proposals how to improve the cart.
Cart is ready to roll
Cart is ready and it is waiting for night of the homeless. World premiere of the cart is tomorrow in front of museum of modern art Kiasma in Helsinki. Starts at 7pm. Welcome.

Cart campaign CARRY ON
Young designer Timo Niskanen was last summer honorable mentioned in an international design competition, Shelter in a Cart, the given task in which was to design a cart for the homeless. Two main functions were expected from the cart: possibility for accommodation in the night time and possibility for carrying one´s possessions as well as collecting goods in the daytime.
